National Association of Professors of Hebrew (NAPH)
NAPH is an organization of service and information both for professors who specialize in the area of Hebrew and for non-academic associate members whose interests are related to Hebrew studies.
The Mission of the National Association of Professors of Hebrew is to:
facilitate more effective cooperation among teachers of the Hebrew language and literature in universities, colleges and professional schools of higher studies;
promote interest in the Hebrew language and literature and related fields at American institutions of higher learning;
advance the learning and teaching of the Hebrew language and literature in American institutions of higher learning; and
advance the professional standards and ideals of teachers concerned with Hebrew Studies in higher education.
National Association of Professors of Hebrew (NAPH)
NAPH is the professional organization of professors and instructors in colleges, universities and seminaries who specialize in Hebrew language and literature of the ancient, medieval and modern periods.
NAPH holds an International Conference on Hebrew Language and Literature every spring. It also conducts annual sessions of papers and deliberations every fall in conjunction with the national convention of the AAR/SBL in the fall, as well as with its Western Regional annual meeting.
Publications include: Hebrew Studies, an internationally recognized scholarly journal devoted to studies of Hebrew language and literature of all periods; Hebrew Higher Education, a journal for methodology and pedagogy in academic teaching of Hebrew language and literature; Iggeret, the semi-annual newsletter of NAPH.
NAPH sponsors Eta Beta Rho, the national Honors Society for students who have distinguished themselves in the study of Hebrew.
